Our story
In 2021, Sipho and Ayesha were running a busy hair and beauty salon in Melville, Johannesburg. The salon was thriving — but the admin was a nightmare.
They tried every booking app they could find. The problem? None of them understood South Africa. Prices were in dollars. There was no WhatsApp integration. And when load-shedding hit, the whole system went offline, leaving clients stranded and stylists with no idea who was coming in.
After the third time a system outage cost them bookings during stage 4 load-shedding, Ayesha said: “I'm just going to build it.”
Two years, hundreds of conversations with salon owners across Gauteng, KZN, and the Western Cape, and thousands of hours of development later — Salonz launched in 2023. Today, it's the platform we always wished existed.
“I wanted software that understood load-shedding, that spoke in Rand, that worked on WhatsApp. Nobody was building that for us — so we did.”

Former salon owner turned entrepreneur. Sipho built his first salon in Soweto at 24 and knows every pain point from the inside. He leads product vision and strategy.
Full-stack engineer with 10 years of experience building scalable SaaS products. Ayesha architected the Salonz platform from day one and leads our engineering team.
